Just putting out some feelers for interest in a morning ride to Moriarty Municipal Airport on Saturday, September 12th to the EAA Fly-In?? www.landofenchantmentflyin.org/loefi.htmlI'm riding a Royal Enfield so the highway is out of the question but believe the frontage road/Rt 66/Central Ave all the way out is possible. Would probably be an earlier morning departure. There are also free shuttle rides from the airport to the Southwest Soaring Museum and figure there would be someplace in the area to also gather for lunch or something. I haven't checked the mileage from a known landmark but figure the speeds could be up to the riders so most scooters/motorcycles could make it. Comments?? Thanks, Rick

I'm down to ride, but I'm wondering what an EAA fly-in is?

I'm down to ride, but I'm wondering what an EAA fly-in is? I don't know what the Moriarity Fly-n is like, but I had the chance to go to the gigantic Experitmental Aircraft Association Fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. That was thousands of planes from random Piper Cubs to homebuilt stuff, from WWII fighter to jets.

I might be up for this. This looks sweet and worthwhile. But I wont know till closer to the date. Morning rides are great! What time were you thinking? I am good for all times as long as it is early. So far, me and the Stella are in. Here is a map from Downtown by way of 333. Should be a pretty ride. tinyurl.com/mt3ldj

I've attended the last couple of years and normally there aren't huge numbers of aircraft there. EAA = Experimental Aircraft Association. If I find his name I've seen the local sailplane pilot who uses a turbine engine (two actually) mounted on his plane who does a routine and that is interesting. Also about every hour a shuttle will take folks to the sailplane museum in town. If you like aircraft, especially sailplanes, that is also enjoyable. The link in the first posting indicates the event is open 8am to 4pm.
Not ever making the trip by motorcycle, I'm not sure how long it would take (riding as a group at moderate speed) to make the trip say from the The Chevron @ 13300 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123 I saw listed for the Santa Fe brewery trip. I'm game to meet up at 8am but could leave the time to others more knowledgeable.
In addition, perhaps someone from the club could contact the EAA group and perhaps park in a display area. Possibly advertise for members and the club in general. last year I saw a few "custom" cars parked along the ramp that drew some attention. Only downside is last year folks were asked to make a "donation" of $5 (I think) for parking. No other admission.
Perhaps on the way back we could stop in Moriarty for lunch. Can't recall exactly what is there but I recall a couple non fast food (McDonald's, Taco Bell, etc) places.

OK, I see an official ride that conflicts with this one. The quote Emily Latella (sp) from Saturday Night Live, "Never Mind"

It's really too bad. We couldn't get them to change the date for the State Fair parade!

Yeah, I got stuck on Central and had to detour around. I had hoped I'd be too early and zip right through the area. Once past it was a great ride. 1st time I'd taken it but hopefully won't be the last.
Who's going to post pics of the State Fair ride???
